Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer 33 and Branding ("3AB") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

3AB : When I was a child, the age of material shortage in the village made me prefer to do one thing and make different changes to make it more suitable and beautiful. Different collocations realize a lot of possibilities, and also let me get a lot of happiness. When I was older, I met my painting teacher. He expressed what I wanted to design in the way of painting. Naturally, I entered the art college and systematically learned about art design. After graduation, I became a designer.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

3AB : Curiosity makes me design and explore. The trend of interest made me a designer.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

3AB : I choose to be a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

3AB : More design related to design experience.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

3AB : Always be curious and creative.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

3AB : Good designers must solve problems for customers, and great designers should shoulder more social responsibilities, not only to do it by themselves, but also to guide people in a good direction, such as protecting my environment, cherishing water resources, sorting garbage, etc.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

3AB : Good design becomes a really good design, which can not only solve the existing problems of the enterprise, but also benefit the long-term development of the enterprise and lead the direction in the design industry.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

3AB : There are no public welfare projects designed for social responsibility.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

3AB : Social welfare.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

3AB : There is no secret to design.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

3AB : Illustration design. Cool.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

3AB : Packaging design is the most direct media facing consumers.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

3AB : Improve their own advantages and make up for their own shortcomings.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

3AB : Never thought about it.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

3AB : New combinations of known things are given different meanings and connotations.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

3AB : Patience and hard work.
