Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Simran Tapadia ("ST") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.
ST : I wasn't really sure if I wanted to become a designer. But one thing I was sure of was I wanted to be in the design field. I did a short diploma course in digital painting and that when I knew I wanted to get into digital art. Then I graduated with a previsualization student and here I'm. I had been inspired by the art around me since childhood I have always successes in it the field of arts. The power of storytelling by one painting is what inspired me to take up art as my career.
ST : I found my peace and solace in design. I feel free and vulnerable while creating something.
ST : No, it was my decision to be a designer.
ST : I design depending on my mood.
ST : Work hard, every day. Worship your work. Be kind to yourself be and do not give up. More importantly, always believe in yourself and your design, even when no one else does.
ST : Power of storytelling.
ST : Can’t really put a number on the artists I look up to, every day, I get inspired by someone or the other. But two of my favourites are, Paula Scher – She’s one of my favourite graphic designers. I love the look and feel of her work. It’s my dream to work with her and visit her company Pentagram. Christoph Niemann – It was love at first sight when I saw his work. His each and every work for the New Yorker is mind-boggling. He’s a true inspiration.
