Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Chun Tang ("CT") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

CT : Engaged in design work for more than 20 years Graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

CT : For me, the reason for insisting on interior design is actually that I think that no other job is more interesting than this in terms of interior design. On the other hand, what I am most looking forward to is actually exploring my own design philosophy.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

CT : I choose to be a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

CT : I pay most attention to the relationship between people. All the space houses that I have handed to me are tailored for them. I want to know their age, working environment, and what stage he wants to reach in this life stage. Height, I hope to help guests achieve an ideal life state in three to five years. This is my mission as an interior designer. Some people say that the feng shui of the space I made is very smooth, because all the atmosphere is done in accordance with the host's gas, so it is very smooth.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

CT : You must first learn to discover something beautiful, and then improve your vision to solve the way of expression. Inspiration comes from life: A good designer must not only have skilled production design skills, but a good designer plays a decisive role. The inspiration for design solutions often comes from bits and pieces of our calm life. Designers should pay attention to life, have their own ideas, clear ideas, and absorb design inspiration.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

CT : It can be difficult to find the difference. However, according to the theory of relativity, we can always determine that something is better than another, so that we can choose the best from the best. Even though humans do not have a fixed method to evaluate the value of something, people often evaluate things based on emotion and experience. Obviously, a problem-solving design, or a value-added design, is better than just good-looking design. It is rational rather than emotional, which allows us to distinguish perfect from imperfect. Bringing this subtle difference into your design is the difference between a good designer and a great designer.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

CT : The birth of a design work must be to solve a certain problem. Therefore, to evaluate the quality of a design work, the first consideration is whether the design meets the current design needs, and the second best design can withstand trend changes. I hope it is evergreen-it will last for many years because it covers common topics that are always closely related to yourself.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

CT : Good design should be innovative. The rapid development of science and technology continues to provide new opportunities for innovative design. At the same time, innovative design always advances with the advancement of technology and will never end. Good design is not a derivative. It must promote our understanding of objects. With the ever-changing iterations, we need to move forward step by step and move towards technological innovation.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

CT : Architectural design, for my family.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

CT : Self-confidence is a perceptual assessment of various preparations made by interior designers. Self-confidence is a kind of confidence that interior designers have for their own strength. They are convinced that they can certainly accomplish something and achieve the goals they pursue. The success of an interior designer requires not only personal talent but also self-confidence. Self-confidence can often lead people to success! Although self-confidence is not important for doing things, gaining the trust of others is very important for cooperation!

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

CT : ZhiTian Liang、DeGang Qiu

The innovative and timely style makes the building exude a refined temperament and chic taste. In terms of interior design, Liang's can use the professional perspective of his architect to carefully handle every space in the interior, and strive to show the perfect use of space and light coordination.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

The so-called broad-mindedness and broadening of horizons means looking at and studying other people's works, especially excellent works. The collection and sorting of various design materials is also a process of combing, learning, refining and improving one's own abilities.

CT : A few years ago, there was a client who started from scratch when he was young, and he and his wife were married. After struggling for decades, the career is successful and the material life is sufficient. But the years have smoothed out the passion. When designing and decorating a new home, I wanted to reminisce about the feeling he and his wife were when they were young, and also wanted to find some memories that were lost. In the process, I was in a storage room with the owner and found a sweater that his wife had woven for him many years ago. This pattern of the sweater is the pattern on a tie he liked very much. Later, his tie broke, and his wife embroidered the pattern on her clothes. Later, when the clothes were worn out, they were forgotten in the corner, and I never thought of continuing this pattern. When the owner told this story to Tang Chun, Tang Chun was very moved and wanted to find a fit and put it in the design of the new home. The owner found the old sweater, and the owner and I took the sweater again and carefully photographed it. After that, I sent the photo to a silk factory to show the pattern on the sweater in the form of silk painting. It is hung in the entrance hall of the master bedroom on the third floor of the owner's house, and I will see it every day. It is very interesting. When his lover saw it, he was very moved. The memories of his youth filled the whole house. Let every day be very warm. In fact, a small design, as long as it is attentive and has a fit with the customer, will be very beautiful.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

CT : Keep in good mood.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

CT : Maybe there is a symptom, because I always think and explore.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

CT : Virtual reality technology has matured, driven by strong artificial intelligence or even super artificial intelligence, almost all work does not require human to implement, and every design idea may be realized.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

CT : My design philosophy and design method.
