LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Evgenia Dymkina ("ED") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

ED : After professional education and ten years of experience in project management I completed the Interior Design education at International School of Design of St.-Petersburg and as a next step - the Interior Architecture and Product Design in C.A.D. in Brussels. The idea “to change my life all at once” for me is the part of design thinking.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

ED : I am like a kid – I believes that design has a power to change our life and mentality, helps people communicate easier. I feel the potential when there are some changes in my life. Stability is not the best friend for the creativity.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

ED : EDStudio creates individual interiors and design. What I appreciate the most is a new vision on everyday objects. I wish to be focused on projects, where there is space for scenography. It is like a Game – and this is what I like most in life.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

ED : The unique concept is what a great design is focused on. But a good design doesn’t mean the successful one. The collaboration with the manufacturer drives success the most in the reality.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

ED : I hope to find myself in social design.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

ED : I am always impressed by Nendo design because of the idea cleanness and simplicity.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

ED : Design is the language of communication. A good design is created for human and about human.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

ED : I am sure, the future design will be based on new kinds of materials and high technologies. Esthetics is fading into the background. It is a common tendency.
