Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Yi-Sin Huang ("YH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

YH : Mechanical design engineering background. Previous experiences were related in machinery and product development. Capable of mechanical structure design and metal processing process.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

YH : I like to observer and built up my own project

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

YH : Yes, I always dream to build up my own project

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

YH : Creating a product to the users them to directly operate and feel it has always been my dream and original goal.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

YH : Stay humble to learn more things

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

YH : Good is speaking of current and great is presenting as a long lasting

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

YH : Built up my own house

YH : My family

YH : To let the users using it in their daily life

YH : Same need but different operating concept

YH : Promoting my own designed bicycle

YH : I would like to know more about how it was discovered at the beginning.

YH : Dieter Rams, Yes

YH : Study and think

YH : I designed my own basketball stand when I was a child.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

YH : Challenge on something that I don't know.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

YH : Not really, but I liked to break down things and rebuild it.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

YH : People can make their own project and trade it with each other without spending money.
