Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Golnoush Zamani and Hajar Shahsavari ("GZAHS") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

GZAHS : they study industrial design at Isfahan Art University. They try to improve people's lives through design and bring people closer to each other. Because they believe that design not only makes human life easier and meets their needs, but also helps to improve people's behavior.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

GZAHS : Design is not only their passion but also believe that they can convey their feelings to people through design. also, they Helping humanity and feeling of having a positive effect on the world is motivated for them.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

GZAHS : Hajar: Actually, she had loved physics since she was childhood, but her mother sent her to painting class, and when she wanted to choose a field in high school, her mother took her to art school and she fell in love with painting at moment, and now the only way to express her feelings is through design. her mother discovered her talent. Golnoush:t the beginning it wasn't her choice to study art. But as the time passed she could find herself in design.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

GZAHS : Hajar: In fact, she wants to be able to products or services that can improve people's lives and bring people closer to each other, regardless of their nationality and race. This is something that is much less common in our world these days. Golnoush: She prefers to design products or services that can change something in our world. Something useful with a real overview of the problems.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

GZAHS : Hajar says: she believes, still has a long way to advise young people, but she believes that Everything is designed in our life. also, we are consciously designing our lives, relationship, and everything that we have connected with. So design close all of us together so we can understand each other better. This is the reason that she always looks at the environment for the first design, because the community and the environment give you the best ideas, so to become a good designer they need to look good at people's living environment first and then design. Golnoush: Each mind has its own way to solve a problem. They have to express them and let their brain feel free to innovate.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

GZAHS : Golnoush: The way they look to the world. A great designer is more curious about problems. Hajar: It depends on how we look at the world and problems which can find the best and easiest way to solve these problems

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

GZAHS : hajar: She believe usability in the product is so important. Golnoush: She level of usability in the product. The principle of the design and their real background.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

GZAHS : Golnoush : A good design is one that can solve a problem and help people to live better. So this is the power of a good solution. Hajar: A good design is one that can solve a problem in addition to the visual appeal. also, can improve our society.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

GZAHS : Hajar: she is designing a product for children that improve relation ship between parents and them. Also she loves creating products that take people a little far away from hustle and bustle of cities. Golnoush: She would spend her time on more smart technological devices that I'd designed for a futuristic city. Maybe in mars.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

GZAHS : Hajar: She wants to have her own design office in the future and design with her team. Golnoush: Her dreamy project is futuristic ideation. About our future lifestyle and advanced products

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

GZAHS : Hajar: she Inspired by children's novels and her dreams. Also, when she was nervous and she thinks, can not design more, running and Badminton are the best option for her. Golnoush: To write a story for the idea

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

GZAHS : Hajar: Salvador Dali, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Henry Moore & Tony Cragg Golnoush: She is really impressed by layer design studio products in design and by David Friedrich in painting.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

GZAHS : Hajar: because they use feeling, creating the special idea. Golnoush: She is interested in medical innovative ideas specially the ones that solve a problem.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

GZAHS : Hajar:The greatest design for her are the insparations. Golnoush: The greatest design for her are the concepts of space dining designed by layer design that are creative and futuristic for our future.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

GZAHS : Hajar:she try to expand her viewpoint by traveling and reading books because made her to thinking. Golnoush:They have to find their taste in design and the vision they think is good for them

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

GZAHS : Hajar: Firefighters or astronaut. Golnoush: She definitely would become a doctor.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

GZAHS : Hajar:Design is a way to thinking and observing.also is a good way to combined art and industry. Golnoush:design is a way of living and thinking. Design is a great mixture of art and industry. Creativity and functions to innovate new solutions.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

GZAHS : Hajar : her parents, especially her mother, and then her self-confidence. Golnoush: Herself

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

GZAHS : Hajar: she still does not consider herself a designer because she has a long way to go to become a good designer, but some events in life made her think about design and that she can improve people's relationships with the world through design. Golnoush: Her desire of leveling up.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

GZAHS : Hajar: Nothing Golnoush:Nothing

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

GZAHS : Hajar:They should focus important details and Present visually. Golnoush:They should just focus on important factors and summarise the description.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

GZAHS : Hajar : she has not thought about it yet, but she is sure it will show itself to me at the right time. But now she works on a project to improve the relationship between parents and their child Golnoush: Much more new medical devices that face our real needs in our world.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

GZAHS : Hajar: Creating a better world by design Golnoush: To help humanity and be effective.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

GZAHS : They think To do my best for each project.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

GZAHS : Golnoush: Innovative design in user friendly and simple to understand. It can improve the quality of life in society. Hajar: Design helps us engage, it keeps us connected to the world, it helps us navigate our way through physical and digital spaces.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

GZAHS : Hajar says: she is learning UI & UX professionally. Golnoush:On a new line of interactive home appliances.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

GZAHS : Golnoush: The projects that meet the real needs in our world or future. Hajar:The project that get acquainted with new things and interesting designs

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

GZAHS : Golnoush: To see less copies of the media and designers really spend time to upgrade their ideas. Hajar: Materials because there are many materials, such as plastics, that are damaging the environment

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

GZAHS : Golnoush:To combine much more with technology and business that art. Hajar:It is too hard to predictied for her .

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

GZAHS : Golnoush: It mostly takes 2_5 month to complete a big project. Hajar:between 3_5 month to complete her project.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

GZAHS : Golnoush:First with understanding details and the user research and market research. Hajar:First with understanding and research thet helps her to understand their audiences. then I design for them

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

GZAHS : Golnoush: New design, new era Hajar:combine art and Industry

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

GZAHS : Golnoush:Solidworks. Keyshot. Adobes Hajar: Adobes,rendering,3d modeling

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

GZAHS : Golnoush:The design is just not about forms. Sensing is more important than any time. So colors and the touch of material are getting bolder. Hajar: Is this technology suitable at this time or not?

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

GZAHS : Golnoush:How is this could solve a problem. Hajar:how is this could improve human life or How is this work?

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

GZAHS : Golnoush:The design is just not about forms. Sensing is much important that anytime. So colors and the touch of material is getting more bold. Hajar:Is this technology suitable at this time or not?

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

GZAHS : Golnoush:How is this could solve a problem. Hajar:How is this work or How is this to human's life?

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

GZAHS : Golnoush: What is the mindset of the designer? How is her/his opinion on the world. Hajar:her/his opinion and inspiration important for me.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

GZAHS : Golnoush:This is absolutely her first choice. She wonders to work with Elon musk one day. Hajar: Definitely yes because teamwork motivates her, she wonders to work with Elon musk one day.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

GZAHS : Golnoush:Her design manager in Entekhab design center. Hajar: her mother

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

GZAHS : Hajar : Design by nature by Maggie Macnab Encyclopedia of Art by Ruyin Pakbaz Encyclopedia of Symbols and Signs Golnoush:Creative confidence by David kelly and Tom kelly.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

GZAHS : Golnoush: Spending more time for herself and source of inspiration. Hajar:spending more time to herself to learn new things .

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

GZAHS : Hajar: Alien & The people of ancient Egypt Golnoush: Elon musk

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

GZAHS : Hajar: Yes because you become a role model in society and it is so important that you are efficient Golnoush: It is hard to be efficient, not famous.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

GZAHS : Hajar says: Egypt and southern Iran, Hamburger, spaghetti, Winter , Sport clothing, Yonex, Zara, and Nike Goinoush: White. Spring. Steak. Beaches

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

GZAHS : Golnoush: She has a memory of a time when there was a fast prototyping competition and she had to make something less than one minute with trashes. Hajar: When she wanted to send my first idea to a contest and I did not know how to a correct presentation, I just described my design with the text

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

GZAHS : Golnoush: When she feels she could have one step forward. Hajar: By traveling and shopping

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

GZAHS : Hajar says: No, in fact, when I was a child, I dreamed of winning the Olympics and I am still fighting for this dream, but besides my sport, I dream of being a professional designer. Golnoush: No Sarvenaz says: No, but she thought he could go to a field that could influence the lives of others with his creativity.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

GZAHS : Golnoush: Space traveling. Multiplanet species Hajar: she thinks everything will be working with high machines and robots

GZAHS : Golnoush: Find yourself Hajar: Bleave yourself and do the things you love
