LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Taka + Partners ("T+P") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

T+P : I hold a degree in architecture from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and the department of architecture, University of Florence (Italy). I also hold a master’s degree from the National Technical University of Athens in the field of “Research in Architecture: Architectural Design - Space – Culture”.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

T+P : Design is everywhere as a core element of objects, buildings and attitude. Needless to say, that design serves everyday tasks and has a great impact on our lives. Good design creates emotions and improves quality of life. It is all about aesthetics and function after all!

DL: How does design help create a better society?

T+P : By providing solutions to problems and introducing simplicity in life for industries, businesses and people. Good practices influence people, communicate ideas and lead the way for change.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

T+P : Innovation and sustainability.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

T+P : Colour, materiality and ambient reflect one’s mood and create opportunities for living in a space. They consist great tools for bringing to life a concept. Smart materials and technology contribute to intelligent surroundings. However, good design is always fundamental.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

T+P : TAKA + PARTNERS is about team-working. Diversity in team members captures all aspects of design. Team-working is an on-going and evolutionary process with creative results. There is a saying “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. I couldn’t agree more!

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

T+P : Blue for colour, New York for place, fish soup for food and Spring for season.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

T+P : As an architect I do hope for a more sustainable world for all of us. Technology is evolving rapidly and will offer whole new aspects of life. But we, as human-beings should keep our driving force and values.
