LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Claudia Perle ("CP") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

CP : I am an independent entrepreneur. So therefor if you follow your mission, you better think beyond boundaries. So I had to acquire the facilities and combain this with our own alignment of Biobee as a family business.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

CP : My motivation as product manager is to express our corporate identity in a product. When we have an idea and we cannot find a suitable concept we start to develop our own. This is always the beginning of a challenging journey for Biobee and myself.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

CP : Neighter nor. Our product, philosophy and responsibility lead us in our work and goal.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

CP : Biobee's product designs.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

CP : Attentiveness

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

CP : Curiosity. I learned from a good family member the importance of curiosity and I am still learing. Learing how to really listen and ask questions is a skill that allows you to keep growing.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

CP : Understanding.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

CP : The idea of eternity

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

CP : Nature's wildflowers. For them no mountain is too high nor valley too low or sea to deep. They can grow in the most unreal places with great intensive colors with the great goal to attract for the next generation.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

CP : For me design is a form of expression. In the best way it touches your senses and boost them. For me every little thing has its own beauty, which has to be discovered with attentiveness.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

CP : Curiosity. I learned from a good family member the importance of curiosity and I am still learning. Learning how to really listen and ask questions is a skill that allows you to keep growing and finding a balance of innovative design with its own uniqueness and the love to express this.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

CP : Product manager

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

CP : We try to work with people who share the same ideas and values.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

CP : My family and the work in a team of critical minded people with the goal to achieve a better state of being.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

CP : I adore anything with a statement or a designation of origin. Inspiration comes through life’s experiences.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

CP : Flexability and sometimes being a fortune teller

DL: How does design help create a better society?

CP : Self-reflection

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

CP : Depends on the challenge. From a few months up to 1-2 years.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

CP : Analyzing the needs, grasp them and implement them.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

CP : Every project is special and has to be worked out.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

CP : ADOBE QuarkXPress

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

CP : Stay as natural as possible.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

CP : What life value brings it to us and our time.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

CP : Teamwork leads you to new shores.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

CP : Family and nature.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

CP : Colors of nature, ancient meaningful places e.g. Nazca in Peru, be open for good food because nothing goes deeper and comes closer to your smallest unit of your body - your cells. So be aware of this.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

CP : Leave your evil twin in bed and get up. Creating something out of nothing.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

CP : We are in the blink of an eye in time. Life continous in what form? Time will bring it out.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

CP : Practice attentiveness. Treat it with care and develop your goals with value.
