Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Oron Milshtein ("OM") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

OM : I have a B.design academic degree and now I finish my architecture degree

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

OM : I don’t know to do something else :)

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

OM : Its chosen me , since I was a child I know that I work with art

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

OM : I do a lots of apartments , the next things will be design hotels and collections of accessories for home

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

OM : Believe in yourself ! Even people said art it’s not work

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

OM : Do not compromise and if you don’t have a choice find the way that you design will stay with your agenda

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

OM : Concept + materials and the final result

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

OM : It’s making life easier and comfortable

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

OM : Chair for Kartell or accessories for Alessi, I love those brands

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

OM : Don’t give up

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

OM : Tom Ford , karim rashid , Phillip starck

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

OM : because they have a statement

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

OM : my apparent , i think because of the smart details that i created

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

OM : Work hard and it will come

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

OM : Maybe a fashion designer

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

OM : Way of life

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

OM : My parents

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

OM : Believe and don’t give up , even if it’s not easy

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

OM : People that afraid from my vision, because they want standard things

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

OM : In the best way they can do , when you do a presentation it doesn’t matter if it’s for small project or big

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

OM : To create something new , maybe furniture collection

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

OM : Work worldwide

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

OM : To be a professional but still a human

DL: How does design help create a better society?

OM : It is , I always love to see my clients when we finish the project and the love the final result, it’s feel that you create small change in people’s life

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

OM : Always my next project

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

OM : Project that the client appreciates my work

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

OM : That people don’t be afraid to create

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

OM : not sure yet

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

OM : its depends

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

OM : Looking for inspiration at the fashion industry

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

OM : Do the best that you can do

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

OM : I don’t believe in trends

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

OM : Make it simple

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

OM : Revit, 3dmax

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

OM : It’s all about the right dosage of materials and colors, and that’s what came out of successful outcomes

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

OM : About the details, I think that what made the project more interesting

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

OM : I adore those people that create this

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

OM : Not for me , I tried before

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

OM : My boyfriend I call him my “muse”

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

OM : It’s combination of Tom Ford , Andy Warhol and David lachapelle books

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

OM : Work hard and don’t give up

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

OM : Andy Warhol

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

OM : Yes , but I believe that will come soon

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

OM : Fuchsia color , Bangkok city , spring season , Tom Ford brand

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

OM : I don’t remember

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

OM : Never look back always look forward to the next challenge

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

OM : For sure , all my childhood was about art

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

OM : We don’t do nothing, we have computers and robots that will do everything, I think it will be boring

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

OM : Remember my name , I have more surprises for you
