LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Pheren Couture ("PC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

PC : I began my professional career as a professional fashion photographer, art director for music videos and short films. I knew I've always have passion for fashion, so after I had my BA in Multimedia Arts, I took Fashion Design classes for one year just to learn all the basic.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

PC : It is my dream to create custom design for Amy Lee from Evanescence , Sarah Brightman, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Avril Lavigne

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

PC : I am currently working on Ready-to-wear collection with my younger brother. I am very excited about this, and planned to launch the collection in February 2020. I am also currently designing handbags with a very special fabric from Indonesia.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

PC : I would say, my Lacrimosa bridal collection. It took thousands of hours of meticulous hand-made work

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

PC : I have interior design books for my inspiration

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

PC : Well, I never expect to be famous as a fashion designer but I knew I always did my best on every piece that I create and I made sure every piece is my master piece. I really enjoyed creating all those different pieces and looking back from all my rough sketches , a lot of experiment on fabrics, and a lot of hours that I took for beading until the finish product. It feels rewarding.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

PC : My favorite colors are black , burgundy, taupe and gold. Oh God, I have a lot of favorite places to mention, but I love suburbs/ village that are surrounded by nature. My favorite season is autumn and winter. My favorite food is Italian, Japanese and Indonesian. Favorite thing would be chandeliers and candelabras.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

PC : I would say yes... haha! That's because it's always amazed me how designers are so genius , creating such beautiful works. I've always telling myself that I could also be a famous fashion designer one day and walk on the runway with my models and collection.
