Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Jingfeng Huang ("JH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

JH : Education: graduated from Guangdong Ocean University in 2011, bachelor degree, major in art and design, Zhanjiang China Design: in 2012 with the enterprise set up personal design studio

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

JH : 2007 began to study painting courses, the university is a professional graphic design, since then like the design of the professional. In the course of learning, homework is often collected by the institute. Let's stick to this choice!

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

JH : I love to design this kind of work, so I choose to be a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

JH : Mainly engaged in brand image design and packaging design, want to learn the commercial space design.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

JH : Design is one of the skills, and knowledge allows you to understand the real design.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

JH : A good designer will teach you the exquisite techniques of design. Great designers can influence how you think about design.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

JH : To solve the core problem is a good design. Good design is easy to use, look good.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

JH : Good design can solve problems, can bring benefits, good design to bring more beautiful life. Investment in good design will make your goals more clear.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

JH : If I had enough time, I would like to design a kind of text, which can make all the people get knowledge easily.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

JH : Brand space design

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

JH : Misaki Sato and Tommy Li

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

JH : Thinking about the design of the method, as well as the brand diagnosis and conclusions.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

JH : The experimental study of Chinese character font, because it appears to the development of the process has been going on for more than two thousand years, even after many changes, but never broken.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

JH : Let knowledge enrich itself, and I am curious about all things.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

JH : I may come back and make myself a designer.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

JH : Design, in order to solve the problems arising in the course of life, make life better.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

JH : Enthusiastic heart, let me chase in the design of the road.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

JH : Learning spirit

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

JH : No access to knowledge

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

JH : Use the knowledge you store now as your strength, and then try to do the best.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

JH : Make design a part of life.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

JH : Anyone who believes in the power of design, I believe in CO design.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

JH : I would like to talk to myself ten years ago, when I was just learning to design, I will tell myself that I can do better.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

JH : Each recognition and awards, is a state of progress, fame is a matter of time.
