Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Ching-Feng Chang ("CC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

CC : I have worked as Site handyman, interior design company assistant, architectural firm designer, civil service My studying process : Private China Business School, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Department of Architecture, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Institute of Building.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

CC : Sagrada Familia.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

CC : I volunteer to become a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

CC : Minimalism, pure color style

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

CC : Working hard.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

CC : The representative of the times.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

CC : Good design has a value of happiness.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

CC : Movie scene.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

CC : Movie scene.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

CC : Insistence

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

CC : Utzon Jorn

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

CC : Sydney Opera House, because many people think that thin shell roof cover would not be completed.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

CC : Sagrada Familia, because it is designed from different generations designers.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

CC : Accept the criticism.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

CC : People, the user's feelings.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

CC : Owners' identity

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

CC : Use your work to express your work.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

CC : Transparent residential case, look forward to a better design.

CC : self-realization

CC : The case that I have never done.

CC : The techniques plays a very important part.

CC : 3DMAX and REVIT.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

CC : This is awesome.

CC : My partners, because the building and the interior is the same design.

CC : The case owner Mr. Wang.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

CC : Trying to fail.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

CC : Exciting, the accepted road is hard.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

CC : green, Sydney, fried rice, summer.

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

CC : There are times to the worksite when people took me as mud master.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

CC : Size the moment.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

CC : Migrate to space.
