Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Yu-Ting Wang, Chien-Hsing Chen ("YWCC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

YWCC : I was grown in a building construction family and is very familiar with buildings since young. I have being studying in art related school since high school and went to Australia and achieved my BA in Interior Design.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

YWCC : I liked houses and buildings since young, when I took the BA of Interior Design, I feel like its what I need to do, to make space useful with my own aesthetics.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

YWCC : I've choose to become a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

YWCC : I would like to design more of modern design.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

YWCC : They should always think from other point of view.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

YWCC : A great designer always force themselves to learn and improve.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

YWCC : A good design has soul, and it needs to combine with the person who use them.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

YWCC : The secret recipe is to knowing the needs, understanding the concept and execute the thoughts.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

YWCC : Mies van der Rohe

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

YWCC : I think design is problem solving, we constantly solves problems, for example solving people's need, solving the aesthetics etc.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

YWCC : I believe is my work team to helped me to reach these heights, team work is very important.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

YWCC : The motive of wanting things to be perfect.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

YWCC : People doesn't believe in what you see.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

YWCC : There are no goals, we have to keep on breakthrough the goals that we set to achieve a good designer.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

YWCC : Design creates a better society of constantly seeing things from other's view, care more about others and understanding the need.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

YWCC : Every one of them, there are different kind of problems need to solve every time, solving them gives me satisfaction.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

YWCC : I would like to see the designs and be more green, think about the natural environment and less construction work.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

YWCC : About 6 months to 1 year.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

YWCC : The best design doesn't follow the trend, it follows the needs.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

YWCC : Helping clients to understand the details more and get less confusion.
