LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Sihui Li ("SL") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

SL : I was born and have been living in China. I studied at the Northeast Normal University and received a bachelor's degree in graphic design, and has been engaged in design work.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

SL : I like to paint as a child, and enjoy color. I was exposed to the graphic design of this professional and generated great interest in University and made my mind to use their own design to serve more people.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

SL : This is my choice, because I like designing.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

SL : I do graphic design field design, brand design, logo design, product packaging design, posters and so on these, the future also want to do some product design.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

SL : I am not a legend, but have been insisting on what you want to do.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

SL : A good design should touch people.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

SL : Good design can bring infinite possibility to product or brand value, and will continue in the future.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

SL : I hope to work with the brand, with more designers.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

SL : Nature is the most talented designer. All natural things are better than human designers, You will learn what you do not have from nature.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

SL : I like the designs that look simple, but letting people aftertaste endless design, also like to have the appreciation of the art design.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

SL : Continue to adhere to their own ideas, and have full of confidence in yourself.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

SL : My design should be creative and artistic, and practical and functional.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

SL : The support from My Family gave me a lot of motivation, and my own enthusiasm and interest are also letting me make progresses step by step.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

SL : It depends on the specific design to set, maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

SL : Start by knowing the project, knowing the background of the project and the design goals it needs.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

SL : I want to love life like love to design.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

SL : Adobe软件

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

SL : Yes, I hope to have more customers and companies to ask my design, also hope to exchange and study with more designers.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

SL : Creative and thoughtful designers or companies are my ideal partners.
