LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Frost Creative ("FC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

FC : I was educated at Solent University, which at the the time was renowned for its typography. Since leaving university I have worked at many design agencies across the South of England

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

FC : I've always loved being creative.I once won a poster competition aged 10 and ever since then have strived to become a designer

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

FC : I chose to become one. It was somthing I aimed for

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

FC : We design everything from brand identities, books, packaging, brochures, magazines, signage, websites, animation... The list goes on. I love working on book design

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

FC : Just follow your passion

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

FC : Simplicity beautifully executed, with an element of the unexpected.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

FC : It is a known fact that businesses that invest in good effective design are more successful

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

FC : I would like to design books that focussed on different arts

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

FC : creating or reinvigorating an airline brand

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

FC : Work hard, keep going and learn from your mistakes

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

FC : I am inspired by the old school like Nevill Brody, Paula Scher, Paul Rand, Saville etc

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

FC : The work that The Partners do really inspires me. They are amazing. If we can get close to the level of output they deliver I will be happy. It will be difficult though as they are very good.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

FC : I don't look at my work and think its great, we can always do better. I always want to improve

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

FC : Take on personal projects and keep taking risks.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

FC : I was always going to become a designer

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

FC : Design is my hobby

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

FC : Myself and my family

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

FC : Learning from my mistakes, listening to my peers and learning from people with more experience

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

FC : Im not a design master yet

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

FC : In the way they feel best communicates there personality

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

FC : A brand for Visconti Studio

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

FC : To become the go to agency in our region

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

FC : Value for money
