Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Seyed Ilia Daneshpour ("SID") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

SID : I love design, i intended to be a designer, for this reason I followed industrial design academically too notwithstanding i graduate in Computer Hardware Engineering before.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

SID : The most thing motivated me to design is the ability to intercommunication through the product or service that i create as a designer or be part of a designer group

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

SID : I chose to become a designer. i have occupied in programming automation softwares and user interface of application and also web pages, because of my involvement to this part of design led me to enter to other sides of design like product design & packaging.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

SID : I work across a wide range of categories, including package design, logo design, UI design, web design.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

SID : It’s exaggerated to know me as a design legend, but legend of design in my mind is someone who can offer a best solution that is simple and also unique for a problem and finally the designed way as a solution embraced by target user

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

SID : Well, comprehensiveness & universality of a solution is basis of recognition of design and designing.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

SID : As same as question No. 6 comprehensiveness & universality of a solution is the base of recognizing and evaluating good design

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

SID : As dieter rams who i know as a design legend said : "Ten principles for good design" is your answer

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

SID : like the other designers, some concepts winch i have to complete them.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

SID : As i see there are no secrets recipe of success in design, observance of design principles is the way being succeed.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

SID : Dieter rams, Charles and Ray Eames & ...

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

SID : solving my societies problems and the solution related them by design thinking

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

SID : When working for a client, the work should be presented all side of project (technical information beside beauty)

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

SID : My ongoing project, which I planned is working on product enjoy drinking tea during user daily activities.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

SID : I just think I should find a suitable solution for requested question from my clients. it is my goal.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

SID : Depending on the scale of the project, it ranges from 2 months to several years.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

SID : learning & questioning & finding the answer are my main mottos

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

SID : PC & Mac, solid works, rhinoceros, auto cad, illustrator and Photoshop, Maxwell & keyshot ....

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

SID : It’s interesting for me to hear how people think about my design and their feedbacks

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

SID : Persian art & architectur, Islamic chinoiserie: the art of mongol, irans from the earliest times to the islamic conquest ...

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

SID : like question 32 my answer is learning & questioning & finding the answer

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

SID : I have to wear my sunglasses. LOl, no it's a lovely feeling

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

SID : The designing was enough for me when i was child, really.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

SID : The future with full of happiness will happen just by endeavor & thinking
