Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Meiyi Cheung ("MC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

MC : I graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University awarded with BA in Fashion Design , and MA in design.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

MC : I design fashion, or wearable art.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

MC : Great designer has the ability to inspire people with his/her designs. Good designer fulfilled the requirement of a design.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

MC : to question the traditions, to inspire people , and to be part of the future world

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

MC : because it will change the world and become the tradition of the future.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

MC : never give up, and keep my eyes, my ears and my mind open.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

MC : Ando Tadao

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

MC : Ando Tadao 's master pieces. It is always a breakthrough of the traditions, without scarified the function and connection to the nature.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

MC : be honest to the con and pro of yourself. don't just talk and dream, action is the must.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

MC : housewife

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

MC : a continuous question and answer that never come to the end.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

MC : people who gave me opportunities and the faith in me

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

MC : Stubborn and hard working

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

MC : good works that inspires

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

MC : The museum project: Fashion + Paper, Scissors and Rock. This is because it has brought me out of the box of fashion, into the arena of art installation, craftsmanship and
