LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Ghazal Ghozat ("GG") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

GG : I graduated from the field of architecture in 2011 and immediately started working in an architectural consulting company and participated in many projects and competitions, and after receiving a master's degree in industrial design, I established my own studio and currently I am currently designing a chairs as an sculpture.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

GG : Because the designer must know about everything and everything made by the designer can have a kind of immortality, at first designing the spaces where people spend time and enjoy feels very good.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

GG : Since I was a child, I was very precise in the details of things. Discovering the details was surprising to me. After that, designing the details became a pleasure for me and I entered the world of art and architecture.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

GG : Using new materials in products that have not been used before, creating spaces and products that amaze the viewer.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

GG : Don't be afraid to create your dreams and of course the secret of success is continuous work and perseverance

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

GG : Definitely being persistent and up-to-date.Acquiring knowledge in the field and understanding the society and their needs, the designer must leave selfishness

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

GG : What an exciting question, If I was designing for hairdressers, they would shorten the service time for their tools and work.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

GG : Designing a collection of interior accessories with my own brand

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

GG : It's no longer a secret if I say it, but I'm joking. My failure is the secret of my secret success

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

GG : I am very interested in sculptors, such as LEE BUL, sarah lucas.I admire great architects like Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

GG : LEE BUL.With a sensibility that is closely aligned with science fiction, Lee Bul's work investigates the ways that modern art, architecture and technology have shaped both our real and imagined worlds. The artist draws inspiration from diverse sources – including film, literature and modern architecture, as well as European and South Korean history – to create hybrid forms that convey a fantastical and often disconcerting dystopian vision. Made from deliberately contradictory materials that range from organic silk and mother of pearl to manufactured fibreglass and silicone, her work explores the utopian potentials but also the darker undercurrents of an increasingly technological culture.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

GG : Designing a conceptual set of chairs as a sculpture because it challenges the emotions and senses of the audience, including the sense of touch

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

GG : Their information is updated in all fields, from philosophy to politics and society, from sports to psychology and art. Knowing the needs of the audience is one of the most important principles of design.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

GG : I love cutting modern hairstyles, it's like sculpture

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

GG : Design is a combination of knowledge, intelligence and patience to keep going again after failure makes a designer

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

GG : My wife, who is actually my best friend and is always by my side in times of trouble

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

GG : The implementation details in the software are a little unrealistic and the real implementation is far away. Since I implemented them and then improved the design, I found the necessary ability in this department.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

GG : In my opinion, 80% of a good design depends on the presentation. Sometimes good designs remain unknown for not being introduced. The introduction should be clear and full of details to show your mastery.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

GG : Creating pleasure in the audience

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

GG : Their needs should always be prioritized. The audience should know that they are respected

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

GG : Simple yet complex

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

GG : Technology and finding a way to speed up and accurately implement the plan is the work of an intelligent engineer and designer. It should serve the designer

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

GG : AUTOCAD PHOTOSHOP LUMION RHINO CEROS 3D

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

GG : I would like to make a short film of the design project and show it so that they can see the degree of drowning in experience and design challenges and failures and know how a space or product turns out to be.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

GG : art since 1960 michael archer

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

GG : Zaha Hadid and I wanted to ask her how she got the courage to make such designs.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

GG : Being famous is part of becoming a professional, I hope it can be developed

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

GG : Finally, an interesting and informal question. I like green color in the autumn season and my favorite food is pasta, and since I like shoes, I like Louboutin designs a lot.

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

GG : Sometimes you have to reverse engineer the plan, that's why I ruined a lot of things

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

GG : When a new idea pops into my head, I get excited and want to quickly put it down on paper and celebrate the start of a new challenge.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

GG : I've always been very curious. I can't give a definitive answer

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

GG : We will have a very, very different future. A new generation of technology and artificial intelligence will amaze the world, and we must see if design loses its identity or if we can remain committed to it. It is very difficult to predict the future at this stage
