Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Nima Bavardi ("NB") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

NB : I have hold a master degree in industrial design and now working as a freelancer designer.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

NB : In my perspective, objects have emotions and speak with users since the designer penetrates his feelings into the object.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

NB : Definitely I picked by my own since I have had a good taste in art and design.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

NB : I am a real sucker for designing objects. It can be either furniture, jewelry, product or fashion because creating something in an innovative way fills my sense.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

NB : They should keep in mind that the first failure is not the last failure but the key of success is not giving up.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

NB : In my point of view, the depth of knowing the users needs and feelings are the only keys to succeed.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

NB : As I mentioned before, knowing the users needs and feelings.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

NB : Good design raises the quality of life.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

NB : Honestly, disabled people are the most vulnerable group of a society, so they need more attention. Design is one way to make them feel they are in centered.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

NB : Designing an abstract building that can be written in history for future genre.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

NB : Filling the users' needs and feelings.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

NB : The number of design masters are high but a man whom I get inspired mostly is Karim Rashid.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

NB : Most of Karim Rashids' designed objects are my favorites since know the users needs and feelings well.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

NB : FiPo Speaker. The form follow the function.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

NB : Keeping themselves up to date with designs.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

NB : Again I would try to become a designer.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

NB : I live with design.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

NB : Definitely my family.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

NB : Knowing about life story of famous designers can motivate us to go ahead with our dreams.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

NB : Honestly, I fee passionate about everything related to design. So, beeing awake till morning working on design projects never can suffers me.
