Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer LIU KAI-HSUAN ("LK") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

LK : I'm 23 years old, majoring in industrial design in college and interior design in high school.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

LK : When you have the ability to do what others can not do, like this crazy ideas, It should be done. No matter what, I will continue to work hard.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

LK : I choose bt myself, I want to be a creator.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

LK : Original design.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

LK : Do what you want to do and pay attention to one thing, be brave and do what you love.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

LK : Touch people heart.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

LK : Try it with anyone who want work with me.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

LK : Cooperation with any luxury brand.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

LK : If you can see in head and you have the courage enough to speak it, it will happen. I don’t shy away from them.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

LK : Just do your best and do not stop proving yourself as you can.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

LK : I will become a music creator.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

LK : In their own way to see the world.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

LK : My family and dream.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

LK : Chasing your dream.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

LK : Break yourself.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

LK : Furniture and new watch.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

LK : Create own brand.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

LK : New project.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

LK : 3~6 months.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

LK : Hope to start from abroad.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

LK : Know more can be specialized, but know less can be special.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

LK : Design should be to follow your heart.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

LK : A pices of pen and a pile of paper.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

LK : Architecture.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

LK : International affirmation.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

LK : I hope so and I will keep designing.

LK : My friend and I are starting a business, it's call KOPUS.
