LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Mohammad Amin Moradi ("MAM") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

MAM : I studied architecture at university and got my masters. a few years later I found Jewelry designing fascinating and I studied jewelry CAD designing.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

MAM : Designing makes me feel alive and powerful. I love the feeling that designing a piece based on my imaginations gives me and to see how that imagination becomes real is the greatest motive.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

MAM : I have liked art since I was a kid, and I always dreamed about being an artist. It was definitely by choice.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

MAM : I like historical and architectural jewelry designs. I also like nature-inspired designing, but I design everything.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

MAM : They should be persistent in what they want and do their best to achieve it. They should always remember that the bigger a goal is, the harder they should try, so don't give up easily and know that future is going to define by their ideas.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

MAM : A great designer has no limitation in designing.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

MAM : Details being placed right and Design being practical while showing the concept makes a design good to me.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

MAM : Designing for Cartier and Chopard.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

MAM : I'm persistent in getting a results that satisfy me.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

MAM : I would be a pilot.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

MAM : My wife has always been my biggest supporter. She has always believed in me and motivated me to try more and to get what I want.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

MAM : TO become one of the greatest Jewelry designers in history.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

MAM : Designers are an important part of a society and can bring hope and happiness to other people by making the world more beautiful by their designs. Also using material and techniques that have lesser negative effect on the environment should be considered by a designer.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

MAM : It depends on the design, It might take half an hour to weeks.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

MAM : I start by doing lots of researches about it.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

MAM : I think both of them affects each other.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

MAM : I mostly use MatrixGold for CAD designing and Keyshot for rendering.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

MAM : I like them to ask and realize the concept and the idea behind it.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

MAM : It might not be related, But I really wanted to meet Tupac Shakur.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

MAM : All colors are my favorites, I can' name one. I like Persian dishes, My favorite spot on earth is home, next to my wife.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

MAM : I don't know if it was obvious. but it was my dream.
