Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Chance Xie ("CX") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

CX : I was an award-winning painter since a young age, however, I pursued a career in finance. Finally, I was inspired enough to focus on my creativity and bring design work that is meaningful to the world.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

CX : A year stranded in paradise in Fiji during the Pandemic, inspired me to become a designer and advocate for happiness from our connection with people and nature.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

CX : I did not choose to become a designer, but life inspired me so much to share an important revelation - our connection with loved ones and time spend in nature bring true lasting happiness.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

CX : I design beautiful soft baby wrap carrier to nurture one of the precious moments in parenthood - bonding with newborn.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

CX : Follow your heart and share what inspired you.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

CX : A great designer will make the world a better place.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

CX : A really good design is functional, meaningful and beautiful at the same time.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

CX : It enriches our lives.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

CX : I'm dedicated to design beautiful multi-functional baby wraps so women can enjoy the 4th trimester beautifully.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

CX : My secret ingredient is observing the abundant beauty in nature.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

CX : I have my design will enrich people's lives and create memories of a lifetime.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

CX : Unique and inspiring artwork that is functional.
