Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Gabriela Herde ("GH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

GH : In 2010 I graduated from Interior Design. In 2015 I graduated from Architecture.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

GH : I like to innovate and create new things.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

GH : I design houses, buildings, interiors.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

GH : Im not a design legend.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

GH : A great design is original and functional.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

GH : I evaluate the role creative process. A good design requires a lot of research.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

GH : Its timeless, lasts forever.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

GH : I would like to design inclusive cities, for everybody.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

GH : Hard Work and travels.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

GH : MASP - SP

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

GH : My greatest design so far is RIVERSIDE 01, I love its shape, location, materials, scale and concept.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

GH : Learn, unlearn, relearn. Refine your look at things.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

GH : Design is everything, everything is made of design.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

GH : My family.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

GH : Hard work.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

GH : In the beginning, being young, and later, being so strict with my work.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

GH : However they fell like. Design is also felling.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

GH : Great facades.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

GH : Project a city.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

GH : Originality.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

GH : Including people and keeping an eye on the future.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

GH : The expansion of the RIVERSIDE 01 project.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

GH : Architectural projects. Last longer.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

GH : Care for the environment.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

GH : Slow Design.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

GH : 3 months.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

GH : I put my ideas in a paper.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

GH : Onesty always.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

GH : I try to use materials with advanced technologies, which do not harm the environment so much.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

GH : Autocad and Sketchup.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

GH : Stimulate people's senses.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

GH : About my Creative Process.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

GH : Thats a great idea.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

GH : Yes, I do.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

GH : My friends and coworkers.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

GH : Lina Bo, Chanel, Gaudi.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

GH : I keep developing.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

GH : I feel grateful.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

GH : Blue, Barcelona, pizza, spring, my family, Gucci.

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

GH : I was invited to an event, which I imagined would be the opening day of the Exhibition, but it was actually an invitation to show my own work, I was scared and I was flattered, the exhibition would open 3 months later.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

GH : I just love my creative days, to work with people with art...

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

GH : Yessssss.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

GH : I've no idea.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

GH : I have so much faith.
