Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Muuk Design Associates ("MDA") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

MDA : I chose to become a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

MDA : Commercial space.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

MDA : work hard and play hard!

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

MDA : I am interested in designing animal shelters to help more stray dogs and cats!

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

MDA : I might become a chief.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

MDA : Observation.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

MDA : You have to evaluate all the situations.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

MDA : Become an influential designer and make a difference.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

MDA : I hope we can use more green building material to help our environment.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

MDA : A minimal residence.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

MDA : Moonshine coffee roasters. I’m a big fan of coffee.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

MDA : About 6 months

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

MDA : I will start with communicating with my clients.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

MDA : I think it's "design sets the trends".

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

MDA : Technology solves most of the problems during the design process.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

MDA : AutoCAD and SketchUp

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

MDA : I would say material play a crucial role in our design.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

MDA : What’s your design strategy?

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

MDA : How can I integrate these work into my project.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

MDA : Yes ! Definitely. We are a co-design company.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

MDA : My favorite color is white.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

MDA : Have some leisure me time, meditation, and a cup of coffee.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

MDA : I am quite sure that I want to be a designer when I was a child.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

MDA : We will reduce a large amount of complicated workflow, and focus on conceptual design methods, further we will live in the metaverse.
