LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Yuchen Chen ("YC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

YC : Chen Yuchen, designer, once studied at Nottingham Trent University and currently lives and works in Shanghai and London. In 2018, he founded the creative agency Absolutely Shock You in Shanghai which provided customers with brand design, visual system and art guidance services. I designed a whole set of the anniversary event visual identity to create a friendly atmosphere. And I hope immerse students, parents and teachers in the festive mood through unified visual graphics design.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

YC : I have interested in drawing something when I was a kid. So I was recommended to be an assistant of art teacher in middle school. After that, I received a good art education with my parents' support. After graduating from high school, I was admitted to the university of the Arts to major in visual communication design. I always dream of becoming an active and valued designer in the realm of graphic design. I really love communication design and believe that creative design is in my blood.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

YC : I think good communication with client is very important in design work process.
