LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Jin Jeon ("JJ") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

JJ : I'm currently a founder as well as all-round designer/animator of J2Motion based in New York City. Born and raised in South Korea, but all of sudden in my mid-20s I made a decision to study abroad in United States of America. As learning and taking any kinds of design courses as much as possible from School of Visual Arts(BFA) located in New York City, I finally found my dream major, motion graphic design which gives me a lot of interests, pleasures and motivations. I firmly believe what animating some static images or graphics always make more dynamic, powerful, and persuasive visual messages.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

JJ : As for my design taste or style like how to express a piece of art work, since I like mathematics at the same time, chances are my design often combines with architectural or engineered esthetic also well-presented in the "Alignment to Air" work here. On top of that, I love creating animation to deliver more my humor and philosophy over even a few of sequences, learning any relevant skills to enhance the level of design pieces, communicating with many other people to broaden my perspective, and appreciating various artist works to get inexhaustible inspiration.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

JJ : As watching any great movies, dramas, or even coming across posters on street, I'm trying to take a close look at them to broaden my perspective.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

JJ : Maxon Cinema 4D: 3D Software Octane: Render Plugin Adobe Creative Cloud(After Effects, Premier Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition): Retouch and Composite Tool

BORN AND RAISED IN SOUTH KOREA, JIN JEON IS CURRENTLY A MOTION DESIGNER BASED IN NEW YORK CITY. HE IS ALL-ROUND CREATOR HANDLING A WIDE VARIETY OF PROJECTS ALONG WITH 2D, 3D, CONCEPTUALIZING, STORYTELLING, AND DIRECTING. AS TRYING TO SEE THROUGH ANY WORKS BEYOND JUST BEAUTY OF VISUALIZATION, HE MAKES EFFORTS ON DEFINING GENUINE MEANING OF THEM. ON TOP OF THAT, JIN LOVES CREATING ANIMATION TO DELIVER MORE DYNAMIC MESSAGES OVER SEQUENCES, LEARNING ANY RELEVANT SKILLS TO ENHANCE THE LEVEL OF DESIGN PIECES, COMMUNICATING WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE TO BROADEN HIS PERSPECTIVE, AND APPRECIATING VARIOUS ARTIST WORKS TO GET INEXHAUSTIBLE INSPIRATION. HE BELIEVES WHAT HE'S INTO MAKES HIMSELF MORE DEVELOP AS A CREATIVE ARTIST.
