Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Bo Zhou ("BZ") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

BZ : Graduated in interior design and visual communication.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

BZ : I want to transform my aesthetic talent into my lifelong career.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

BZ : My own choice, and my only choice.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

BZ : The current job is interior design, I want to participate in some product design, I think this cross-border will be very interesting.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

BZ : Don't limit yourself too much.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

BZ : The macro concept and literary nature of the work.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

BZ : Good landing process and results.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

BZ : In the commercial sense, it will maximize the benefits of commerce, in a social sense, it will have a profound impact on the aesthetics of a city.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

BZ : Want to design a church.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

BZ : Starting from experience, but not following experience.

BZ : Each excellent designer has independent design thinking, it is worth communicating.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

BZ : See more, think more, and then put it down.

BZ : May become a chef and bring joyful moments to others.

BZ : Design is to solve problems while outputting aesthetics.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

BZ : My partner made up for my shortcomings.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

BZ : Need more time to think and precipitate.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

BZ : Good works, existence is display.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

BZ : A resort hotel.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

BZ : Can design all the time and continue to surpass yesterday's self.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

BZ : Lead and provide surprise.

BZ : Try new design languages and get perfect results.

BZ : More technological methods can improve the construction process, reduce material costs, and make some difficulties easier.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

BZ : One end is more and more technology, the other end is more and more return to nature, both are future directions.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

BZ : Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the space itself and maximize the advantages.

BZ : The future is not what we can imagine now.
