LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Nizar Samoglu ("NS") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

NS : The design is a fancy sounding word, and there seems to be a certain amount of misconceptions surrounding it. But what is it really at its core? Is it simply a process to make pretty looking things? Far from it. It doesn’t focus purely on aesthetics, nor is it about adding ornaments to an item. First and foremost is it about making the user’s interaction with the environment more natural and complete.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

NS : I don’t think of becoming a designer as something I chose to do as much as I do a profession that chose me. For that I am grateful, as I am for a career path that found me and continues to bring joy and fulfillment to my client's life and me.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

NS : I like the art and design fields. i chose it myself, so i like what i do.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

NS : Interior Design, and Brand Identity.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

NS : The designer bears a responsibility for the way the products he designs are received… The designer’s responsibility must go far beyond these considerations. His social and moral judgement must be bought into play long before he begins to design, since he has to make a judgement… as to weather the product he is asked to design or redesign merit his attention at all.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

NS : Creativity. yes that's it.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

NS : When you put yourself on the client chair, you will touch his needs. the good design generated a park link which make people don't leave their looking out.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

NS : Simplicity. investing in good design, this will make brand spread in good and memorable way .

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

NS : Shops and Kiosk in malls. i like to design for swatches brands.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

NS : Do a huge brand and design agency contains lot of creative designer.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

NS : Getting in depth of the product, looking around the world, making things beautiful fitting the marketing needs.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

NS : Jaguar, its really Luxury vehicles designs.

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

NS : Caring in details.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

NS : I did other design for a Perfume company called "emissa", the design itself combine the European style and the Oriental. you will see her soon.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

NS : Any designer should be able to Have a strong idea of what client needs before he goes in, does Background Research, Be Specific as Possible.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

NS : Define a clear idea of the product goal , gather data to start giving me inspired, brainstorm and analyze Ideas, form multiple small-scale design solutions, gather feedback from family members and close friends.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

NS : Actually, my wife.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

NS : Patient and seeking to do something sleek and different.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

NS : My parents tried to work in my B.A of engineering. i struggled a lot to get a B.A in Graphic design inside of my own B.A in electronic engineering.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

NS : In Attractive way and powerful presentation.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

NS : I am working on a Kiosk for a Global Perfume company and do Packaging for them and other clients.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

NS : Achieve his dream to be real and fitting the marketing needs.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

NS : Discriminatory.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

NS : When it serves the goal of what it did for with a beautiful look.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

NS : I am working on a Shop and Kiosk for a brand company. the design will coming up soon.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

NS : emissa perfume brand and interior design production. this work takes a bout one year from design until product and decoration production.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

NS : Speed of loading the Design Applications.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

NS : More Creativity and people relaxation.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

NS : In fact, its related to the type of project. the packaging design needs 10 - 15 days to do the design craft and mockups until 3D Presentation.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

NS : 1st of next jun. the project is existing in London, so i will be there .

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

NS : Love what you do.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

NS : Both are related. i give the priority to the design.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

NS : Today the technology is going fast and all of us need tools serves our needs in shot time with less efforts.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

NS : Adobe Creative Cloud . Autodesk 3DS Max - MAYA . VRay Renderer.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

NS : The Harmony.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

NS : How do proud of your work?

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

NS : Jealous to work harder and come out with awesome one.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

NS : Actually, there is no partner, i work alone. but always take my wife's opinion.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

NS : My Wife and daughters.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

NS : You will shock about that, i read a lot about the space and and galaxies. i fell they affect my mood and feel free.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

NS : Learning and passing graphic exams.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

NS : Meet people which are affect the society from their achievements like Steve jobs ...

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

NS : Yes, the success is cost. Big success doesn’t come without consequences. One of these, perhaps the main one, and that can be viewed as good or bad, is that, generally speaking, the more success you have, the narrower your life gets. As your skillet grows, as you mature and develop, you by definition become more specialized, which means that your life—that is, your life—becomes smaller and smaller. There are a couple of points to consider here.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

NS : Starting with colors: I like a lot grey-scale images. Place: where i feel free and do my work with relaxation. Season: Autumn Thing: my jeep car Brand: Jaguar

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

NS : When I was working in a project, the client wanted to move an element just 1 pixel, i did then i make undo, he said wow, now it perfect...

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

NS : Time management, i always visit exhibitions in many countries and meet professional people around this motivated me a lot.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

NS : I had always hate do the traditional jobs and try to find a inventor way to solve.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

NS : I think the future is going to be a bright place for all humanity. If we could just learn a few new techniques and methods for life, we could achieve so many things that humans don’t even dream are possible.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

NS : It's important to master the art of the humble brag to make a good impression. Feeling proud of your accomplishments is fine. Endlessly.
