LEGENDARY INTERVIEW
Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Rumeysa Aris ("RA") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.
DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?
RA : I had Bachelors degree of Naval and Nautical Design. I started to design boats in 2012 and I won a national yacht design award in Turkey in 2014. I was very curious about design and have never limited myself. Discovering design styles and trying something new has always made feel very excited about the process. While studying, I had 2 internships in 2 biggest shipyards in Turkey. I have experienced the design process fro a short time as a designer in both shipyards who are building custom made mega yachts and mass production yachts.
DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?
RA : Creative process is very exciting for me, I feel boosted and full of energy and excitement when I start to design a ne project. That feeling of needing to create something has never left me alone therefore I have always found myself in creating something new when I have time to do so and that feeling made me become a designer.
DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?
RA : I chose to become a designer.
DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?
RA : I design Interiors, Yacht Exteriors and Interiors and Aircraft interiors. My profession is to design small and limited areas such s yachts and airplanes but also sometimes I wish to design a big house and a museum. I don't want to limit myself beside I love exploring and learning new things.

SHE IS A PASSIONATE UP-AND-COMING YACHT DESIGNER AND HAVE A BACHELORS DEGREE IN NAVAL AND NAUTICAL DESIGN, GRADUATING WITH HONOURS. SHE HAS 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE DESIGNING INTERIORS AND EXTERIORS OF PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL VESSELS WORKING INTERNATIONALLY. CURRENTLY SHE LIVES AND WORKS IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, IS COMPLETING A DIPLOMA OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT, AND IS WORKING ON HER START-UP YACHT DESIGN COMPANY AZURITE IN HER SPARE TIME. SHE KEEPS UP TO DATE WITH INDUSTRY TRENDS OF YACHT DESIGN, INTERIOR DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE. SHE IS CREATING PROJECTS WITH THE FUTURE IN MIND SUCH AS THE ICONIC SX80 WITH HER HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM AND UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE DESIGN FEATURES, TO ATTRACT AND INSPIRE A DEDICATED AND BROADER MARKET. SHE IS CURRENTLY WORKING FOR A BOUTIQUE YACHT AND COMMERCIAL VESSEL DESIGN COMPANY WHERE SHE IS ALSO HAPPILY SOMEWHAT OF A MENTOR TO HER COLLEAGUES IN YACHT DESIGN AND THE SPECIFIC SOFTWARE. SHE IS OPEN TO TAKING CREATIVE RISKS, PUSHING DESIGN FORWARD, MERGING AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONALITY, AND ART AND DESIGN. SHE LIVES AN ETHICAL LIFESTYLE, ENGAGE WITH HER COMMUNITY, EAT A PLANT BASED DIET, IS DEDICATED TO HELPING OTHERS AND SHE SPEAKS ENGLISH AND TURKISH FLUENTLY.
