LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Mojtaba Hosseini ("MH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

MH : I studied Computer Software. Because of my interest in problem solving and designing new products, I changed my way and tended to the 3D graphic design. So I tried to learn by myself through the internet, online courses and books. After mastering in 3D graphic design, I brings my new products to life and implements my ideas.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

MH : "Tendency to creating new ideas" and "Solving problems" are two of my main motivations for design.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

MH : Absolutely I have chosen to be a designer by myself. I don't believe that anyone can become a designer by being forced to, it needs so much passion and patience beside the skills.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

MH : I love product designing, accessories and sometimes everything! I look at everyday challenges and try to find simple and achievable solutions for them. I love the Modern look and Minimal designs.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

MH : “Design” is the endless path and I am at the start point of a long journey. I can’t say anything else than what everyone knows already, Passion, Hard work, Patience.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

MH : Practicing & Hard working! Great designers are people who will not give up easily and always looking for the best.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

MH : First of all the “Idea”. A good idea is a key to a good design.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

MH : Everyone should invest in good design, because people are always looking for good and new designs and welcome them! Good design adds value to the brand by engaging with customers and improving their lives.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

MH : I think there is no secret recipe. If we share, we will gain more. The designer must understand and connect with the subject, then he could try to find a solution.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

MH : Absolutely in the product designing field there is many legends which you can inspire from them!

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

MH : A project that I am going to launch in next few days! I think that would be my greatest achievement so far.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

MH : Improving their visual knowledge and Practicing!

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

MH : I like to would be a racing driver!

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

MH : Design is art of solving problems and bringing the imagination to reality.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

MH : My family of course.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

MH : Passion, Volition, Patience

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

MH : Discrimination & inattention!

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

MH : Attend in different competes, publish their work and making connection using design society.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

MH : It's a secret!

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

MH : Have an impact on human life and make people more comfortable and happier through my designs.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

MH : Time and Job commitment.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

MH : I'm working on a new product design for Red Dot Competition, and I'm super excited about it.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

MH : Development of design software.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

MH : I think it's only the beginning!

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

MH : It depends on the project, three days to several month.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

MH : In my room!

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

MH : Never give up!

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

MH : I think they both affect each other.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

MH : Technology is coming after the sketches, that help to give birth to the shape and intentions. After with the technology I have the choice to review my first intention design, or improve it. I can not ignore the technology as a powerful tool that helps me present my ideas.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

MH : Maya, 3Ds Max, Mudbox, Keyshot, HDR light studio, Vray, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

MH : Colors and Materials are one of the main role in design. The colors will give you the marketing aspect, which is also important in the design industry.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

MH : When it's really surprising, I think that why I didn't think of it! and congratulate the good job!

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

MH : It depends on the amount of effectiveness that co designer has. I appreciate others opinions and I usually consider them when designing.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

MH : Other designers.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

MH : Self Taught, Practicing.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

MH : A lot of people!

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

MH : Of course it is not easy but It's honorful! After you have to manage the things in a way you want people to see you and your work.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

MH : Color is Black, place is Germany, Food is all of them!, Season is winter, Thing is my PC!, and Brand follow with Sony.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

MH : When I solve a problem in designing process, it is make me exited so much and motivate me to act better.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

MH : Certainly the human will progress many more!

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

MH : life is short, live it well!
