Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Edhuard Zverev ("EZ") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

EZ : I studied PETRGU (University of metall manufacture and repair) ,Petrozavodsk,Russia 1996 and I create jewelry and accesories for men/

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

EZ : I like to create designs for strong,independant and free people (mainly men) and I always get visions of designs in my head that I want to create in reality. I once asked a person to teach me his mastership in jewelry and he refused- that created a fire in me to become the beast designer and be better than him.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

EZ : Expand my collections for men. Create new coolections .

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

EZ : Find their passion and create more of it. Always educate theirselfes in technology and material they work with.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

EZ : A unique idea and masteship behind the design.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

EZ : A good design-good quality. The best design - originality,the best quality and mastership.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

EZ : A value is that you can buy it or ask a designer to create it for yourself and wear it your whole life if this is the best quality. Be the only one in the world with this kind of jewelry piece.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

EZ : I would design more expensive and crazy project for older men.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

EZ : A skull mask that comes with a key and opens up its doors.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

EZ : I have my unique trait of shape and edges,my own Z in designs (first letter of my last name).

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

EZ : I can't really remember cause I don't awe of someone,just their works/

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

EZ : Maybe weddind rings by Bvlgary and rings for men by other big fashion houses.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

EZ : Actually one I made and got a silver award here. Seahorse pendant. Original idea,tha its for men.and a gemstone that radites the whole pendant inside out.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

EZ : Work really hard,self-educate,have passion

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

EZ : Maybe become a fitness trainer.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

EZ : A vision that you get and then come around to create a jewelry out of it.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

EZ : I know I can sound selfish- its me.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

EZ : A talent,passion, hard work.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

EZ : I had to know how to work with metal,how to work with gems. I was born in a worker family with minimum money and grew on the streets + in the 1990-s it was a very criminal time for people.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

EZ : With professionals entries,social networks.

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

EZ : I am now creating a new collection for men which looks like bodyshapes made out of apple (Adam and Eve).

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

EZ : Find my market,job offers,people who are interested and design for them and other fashion related events.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

EZ : A professional,who is very experinced in what he's doing,the best quality and original deisgns.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

EZ : It help people to become happy by wearing jewelry,it created a market for designers like me and a job. It influence the culture about the history behind designs and about jewelry.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

EZ : A collection inspired by Adam and Eve and few other lesser project.Rings,earrings with original ideas and deisgns.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

EZ : "The Jormungand" ring - because I was able to achieve an impecable quality,original design inspired by the serpent and good size.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

EZ : More visibility and job for designers like me.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

EZ : To be more plane and use more anti-allergic,less expensive,more hi-tech designs.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

EZ : 6 month-1 year.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

EZ : I start on paper.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

EZ : Live free,be bold,independant,strong-spirited,well educated in your field and about materials you work with.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

EZ : The most unique ones- do inspire in some way new trends and designers.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

EZ : I use 3D modeling programs,and try to create a shape that comfortable to wear,also use allergy-free metals if this is a desire of a person.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

EZ : 3D max, Rhinocerous,pencil, ruler, glass table and a computer monitor.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

EZ : I try to create a color by blackening the metall and by using gems. I work with the surfdace to create a unique shape more. I like to use everry metal in my work,especially gold.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

EZ : What does it mean and how much it cost.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

EZ : It's an acomplishment and how do a designer came up with this design if its great and unique.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

EZ : I don't have one and I think ideal would be if people are really alike and move in the same direction. Sometimes a difference can create a great collaboration,but a long-term work need a more alike person.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

EZ : A warriors by nature. Free-spirited people.who are free and independant.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

EZ : Classic literature.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

EZ : I studied for years and self-educated myself on the cause. Everyday I would look for something new and exciting.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

EZ : A heroes from a time long-forgotten. Warrios.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

EZ : I'm not famous yet and I dont want to be a celebrity- I just want to remain a orifessional designer,owner of the brand who create great jewelry for men.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

EZ : Blue,a beach,italian paella,drawing,not really interested in brands.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

EZ : I motivate myself to grow and be better by a desire to make a Frangue's name.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

EZ : I almost drowm once and I survived- that was a sign that I need to left a mark on this world.I didn't know who would I become.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

EZ : Its hard to assume - I hope people would change their way of living to no destroy planet,themselfes and everything around them.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

EZ : I would want them to know that it's a blessing to be able to be an artist and make great designs for people.
