Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Vrossis ("Vrossis") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

Vrossis : Actually there is no design background , i love creation , i love modern and contemporary art, and i am a big fine. Art is my biggest love, is my hobby , and most important is my psychotherapist , for 20 years. i work as a naturopathic doctor and i created a cosmetic line because is my second big love and my dissertation for my phd.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

Vrossis : As i previously said , design and art is my gateway to relax, and generate only positive feelings.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

Vrossis : i chose to be , and that is the main reason to push myself when i made a design

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

Vrossis : mostly visual graphics for cosmetics , and products that make people happy i.e toys in some cases.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

Vrossis : i still haven't become. As long as i leave i am learning ,so as long as you leave you are not a legend because you learn. You become one after you die , because you re not learning any more on this beautiful earth.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

Vrossis : Design is art, and art is subjective. For me there is nothing that can distinguish a designer practically. i would dare to say that the way a a designer express his feelings and of course how these feelings are presented in his creations maybe are possible reasons to distinguish him

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

Vrossis : i am not a specialist in this field , so i don t know what actually is a good design. i 'd stick only in the personal strength of expressing someone' s feelings on his creation.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

Vrossis : Design is art. Art moves the brains , the spirits, and the sentiments of the people towards future. We have history because we have art

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

Vrossis : A psychotherapy chair for Freud

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

Vrossis : a top brand in herbal cosmetics.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

Vrossis : just express my love to things and people i love

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

Vrossis : B&o from Denmark

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

Vrossis : B&o equipment. High handmade technology combined with simple and unique design. Perfect combination

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

Vrossis : a great building structure inside and outside. Berghein club in Berlin. A 60s factory structure that can be a museum of modern art and a dancing club with perfect deep house music that stimulates all the sentiments of people.All in one

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

Vrossis : Reading, travelling, thinking, fall in love, and most important: being simple keep low profile, and desire to learn are for me the best practises.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

Vrossis : i am not a designer , but one day i will be.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

Vrossis : Design is a creative idea , that is being expressed and manufactured with help of modern technology.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

Vrossis : My subconscious , when i let it expressed after 9 years of cognitive psychotherapy

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

Vrossis : i am still not a designer. when i grow up i d love to be. My expression of positive feelings help me to find the way of being a designer one day.

DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?

Vrossis : financial mostly.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

Vrossis : in modern art museums

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

Vrossis : Improving the current one. And create a new innovative line of cosmetics will lead me to create new graphic visuals

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

Vrossis : To create an object of desire this decade.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

Vrossis : to become better , and t release continuously new designs to stimulate their brains

DL: How does design help create a better society?

Vrossis : stimulate people to thing that ART makes this word move towards, and create history.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

Vrossis : unfortunately not, but i am willing in the next semester.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

Vrossis : Mostly contemporary art installations , like the last one from Cibeles and Brayle.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

Vrossis : i want every museum of modern art to have a design section, and design should be obligatory course in every school in the world

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

Vrossis : to high technology i.e cars, smart houses, computers etc.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

Vrossis : about 1 year.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

Vrossis : from the logo creation. you start from the base and then built.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

Vrossis : Design makes your mind peaceful. Design stimulates all the senses. how many people on earth use all their senses every day?

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

Vrossis : Design sets the trends.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

Vrossis : today most important, but not necessary

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

Vrossis : to be honest nothing. i haven't studied graphics, so i transfer my ideas to my friends who are graphic designers.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

Vrossis : all in combination stimulate all the senses. Very important.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

Vrossis : they can ask whatever they want , i ll be delighted to answer everything. But mostly to ask me how the basic idea came.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

Vrossis : i love life.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

Vrossis : My best friends.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

Vrossis : all the people from the team.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

Vrossis : no books. my trip to Vietnam and Cambodia stimulated me.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

Vrossis : i still haven't. i am still a kid as a designer.

DL: Irrelative of time and space, who you would want to meet, talk and discuss with?

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

Vrossis : No , you have to be simple. You re still human.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

Vrossis : khaki, Santorini island, spaghetti al pesto, winter, my laptop, B&o

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

Vrossis : the other member of the team always call me the Stupid doctor every day , because i haven't studied art.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

Vrossis : to go to the sea, or visit a museum, to eat nice food, and drink great wine.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

Vrossis : no , it was obvious that i could be a great farmer like my father, because i loved nature.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

Vrossis : i d love to live again , in an environment like ''final fantasy" the video game.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

Vrossis : i invite them to use my cosmetics and love themselves.
