LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Kim Tiziana Rottmuller ("KTR") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

KTR : After I attended an excellent education at a Germany boarding school I relocated to Italy in 2014 where I have started to study Fashion Design at Polimoda, Florence. Since I was a child I have had a strong interest in Fashion& Art and it was just a matter of time to become a designer. In 2018 I have successfully finished my studies with a BA degree and have been working on my lable since 2017.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

KTR : I had time to freely decide what I wanted to become.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

KTR : I am doing fashion design for women, merging fashion & art to create a piece of art to wear.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

KTR : Not forcing to create something great and not trying to compair the design with others.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

KTR : There is no other job for me than beeing a designer.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

KTR : Definitely the strong support of my family & friends !

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

KTR : They should present their work as if it was a mirror of their own identity.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

KTR : You can deliver highly explosive topics in a subliminal and sensitive way without offending anyone but yet still able to hit the nail on the head and start making people to review their point of view.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

KTR : Humans are no machines, maybe in some parts this should be considered.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

KTR : Research, research, research ..

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

KTR : Fashion for me is art. Art means eternity, boundless possibilities.

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

KTR : The need itself sets the trend - or the wish to create a need and therefore a design.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

KTR : I love food in general but I would say one of my favourite foods is bavarian cuisine.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

KTR : When I see process, movement in the development of creating.
