Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Hootan Hamedani ("HH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

HH : Master of Science (MS) in Architectural Engineering.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

HH : That was not my choice. I was designer.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

HH : That was not my choice

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

HH : Building, sculpture and Fashion.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

HH : Being present.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

HH : Every good designer will be great one day.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

HH : the which flows more in present moment.

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

HH : The same thing.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

HH : What I am doing is my dream project.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?

HH : Meditation.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

HH : All of them.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

HH : They need to me more connected to the nature.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

HH : Design anyway.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?

HH : Design is daily living being.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?

HH : Myself being silent.

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?

HH : Silent moment.

DL: How do you think designers should present their work?

HH : They don't need to present. They just need to design. The work will present itself.

DL: What’s your ultimate goal as a designer?

HH : The way I am going now.

DL: How does design help create a better society?

HH : Design is living being.

DL: What are you currently working on that you are especially excited about?

HH : Jewelry and fashion design.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?

HH : Each single one of them.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

HH : Any moment will lead it to its own destiny.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

HH : One to three months.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

HH : New materials absolutely change the design.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

HH : It depends of type of project. limit is the sky.

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

HH : They don't ask. they enjoy them.

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

HH : When I am in silent mode.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

HH : everyone.

DL: How did you develop your skills as a master designer?

HH : Being more connected to inner energy.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

HH : I appreciate the opportunities and enjoy being famous.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

HH : 7 color of sun. World. All seasons.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

HH : One real and conscious breath make me happy.

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

HH : Yes. I started when I was 10.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

HH : The same thing that happened 2000 years ago and also the same as 10,000 years from now.
