LEGENDARY INTERVIEW

Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Keng-Fu Lo ("KL") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

KL : I graduated from Kaohsiung Medical College- Department of Psychology, I have a company called CHAIN 10 URBAN SPACE DESIGN.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

KL : I have been interested in the design, and began to find books to learn and practice drawing.

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

KL : I choose to become a designer.

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

KL : I design Interior space or Architecture, I wish to design more of architecture.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

KL : Learn more and read more.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

KL : The good designers were discussed for a while, but the great designers are impressive forever.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

KL : Good design must have practicality and energy saving, but also in the appearance should have a unique place.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

KL : あんどうただお, いとう とよお, Le Corbusier

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

KL : Paulo Mendes da Rocha, São Paulo, Brazil. Simple materials and forms describe the architectural scale of the nation.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

KL : My greatest design is Green Places Community Clubhouse. The design idea is based on the pattern of nature, with landscape pool, outdoor plaza and natural view as hills. The natural elements are brought into building and interior space, and tall trees become wall and decoration of the building. It creates harmonious environment for living and nature.

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

KL : I did not think about this problem, but I think I will do it designer.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

KL : About 6~18 months.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

KL : Start by looking for inspiration.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

KL : If you can have a new day, it should be kept every day new, new, but also updated.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

KL : It is a very important connection between people and the environment. A good environment contains a consistent design from the architecture to the interior. he coordination between Interior design and space makes a perfect structure of architecture.
