Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Ece Cokca ("EC") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.
DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?
EC : I am educated in the field of interior architecture and environmental design in Baskent University then I make my master thesis in field of restoration especially ancient hans of Istanbul. I worked 4 years in an architectural company and had an experience in architectural design. I also have an experience in the field of basic and advanced photography
DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?
EC : Yes I choose to become a designer
DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?
EC : I make jewelry designs, I would like to make contemporary jewelry
DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?
EC : The type of solving problems make the difference
DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?
EC : Aesthetic appearence together with the functionality makes it a good design.
DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?
EC : I would like to design a special collection for Art Museums.
DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?
EC : Phillipe starck, Zaha hadid, Le Corbusier
DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?
EC : Villa savoy, for the less is more idea
DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?
EC : Arcade collection maybe one of my greatest design, it is inspired by the arcade of ancient hans. It is functional, minimal and have a story.
DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?
EC : Working hard, making research and free to feel
DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?
EC : Design is the creation of a new product by the artist inspired or influenced from images he/she sees during daily life. Even it seems that the world experienced or perceived by people are the same, the impression or reflection on each individual is different which brings to life different designs.
DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?
EC : My clients are my biggest supporters
DL: What helped you to become a great designer?
EC : I wish to walk in the way of being great designer
DL: What were the obstacles you faced before becoming a design master?
EC : It was hard to build my own atelier
DL: How do you think designers should present their work?
EC : We should prefer to meet clients face to face and social media channels is also serve as another opportunity

ALL HER DESIGNS HAVE A STORY AND THE BRAND NAME 'STELART' COMES FROM 'STORYTELLINGART'. WITH STELART JEWELRY THE CLIENT DOES NOT PUT ON ONLY A JEWELRY, BUT ALSO A STORY. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TARGETS OF THE BRAND NAME IS TO MAKE CLIENTS ‘FEEL THE STORY THROUGH JEWELRY’.
