Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Yingjie Lin Yuanyuan Zhang ("YLYZ") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

YLYZ : I graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2009, master's degree

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

YLYZ : Design is not only my life, but also my interest. I can't live without design

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

YLYZ : My dream is to be a designer

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

YLYZ : I'm a space designer, and I hope to have more interdisciplinary project design

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

YLYZ : Effort and persistence

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

YLYZ : Continuous innovation

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

YLYZ : More appropriate design

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

YLYZ : I want to build the best house for my parents

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

YLYZ : Make others and yourself happy

YLYZ : My parents

YLYZ : Cross technology design projects, which can let different teams and different thinking to create creative sparks

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

YLYZ : Keep learning

YLYZ : design is to use creative thinking to realize people's desire for life.

YLYZ : Find creative thinking different from other designers.

YLYZ : Why didn't you spend more time traveling when talking to the University.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?

YLYZ : Achievements need to be different from ordinary people's creativity and efforts. These are the rewards that need to be paid.

DL: What is your favorite color, place, food, season, thing and brand?

YLYZ : Black, Italian, rice, autumn, Chinese Song Dynasty artifacts, Nike

DL: Please tell us a little memoir, a funny thing you had experienced as a designer?

YLYZ : Because the concept of design changes the development path of a city center.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

YLYZ : Design as a friend of life

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

YLYZ : No, people around me and myself think I'm going to be an artist.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?

YLYZ : According to the current human development speed, I dare not think about the future, or even the future of 1000 years. I hope that designers at that time will not be so busy as we are now.

DL: Please tell us anything you wish your fans to know about you, your design and anything else?

YLYZ : I hope that fans can pay attention to our updated architectural works in the future from now on.
